Cash Vs Charge: Black Milk Sheer Spartans Leggings

black-milk-vs

Pauline and I saw The XX a while back and one of the opening performances was Phantogram. Their lead singer was wearing these amazing leggings and we conspired that they were by Black Milk. I’m short so I knew that the elastane at the calves/ankles would get all bunchy so I wanted to find a pair that were cotton and less than $90. Even though the paneling is different, I found these leggings at Nasty Gal and immediately made a purchase ($38). I really like them a lot but I am warning you that the solid sections are a little sheer so you need to be sure you have your tooshie covered.

Retailers To Install Virtual Mirrors To Sell Make Up

3903157310_84dcc2c5f8

Shopping for fast make-up relief and frazzled at what to buy? Cosmetic aisles in supermarkets and drugstores are adding electronic makeover mirrors with technology from EZFace Inc. to help both the consumer and company. Wal-Mart Stores have already installed these virutal mirrors in a two locations and is set to expand to 40 other stores. Stores in France and Britain have also done the same.

The idea behind this is to deter customers from returns of product and of course from opening packaging leaving the company with destroyed inventory. This is also to help from being hesitant to buying new make up or even hair color, because unlike Sephora or department retailers there are no make up samples to test out.

The virutal mirror kiosks are designed for easy use: stand in front of a mirror for the photo and scan the cosmetic bar code. The eyeshadow, blush, lip gloss, mascara, or foundation will then appear on the appropriate part of the face. A list appears on the screen to remind you of what you are testing and you can even print the image, email it, or post it to Facebook.

Do you think this would be more effective in stores? If you don’t shop at Wal-Mart would it entice you to go and try the virtual mirrors out in order to make purchases? The only make up I buy at a retail store is mascara but if the Target around the corner from my apartment had something like this I think it would be fun. What are your thoughts?

45109_488687922003_48592217003_6814730_7719680_n

I have always been a huge fan of Ksubi so when I saw their “Eye Eye” collection I was pretty excited. This spring collection is made up of seven optical frames and eleven sunglasses with a mix of modern updates on the aviator and wayfarer shapes. A friend of mine just picked up a great pair of aviators this past weekend so needless to say I kind of want a pair. Come September when this collection is released I may be a proud owner. Available through Ksubi, David Jones and General Pants Co. nationally. Prices range from $289-$329. More behind the jump!

Cynthia Rowley “Dress Up BAND-AID”

cyn-row-band-aid

Designer Cynthia Rowley teamed up with BAND-AID to create these “Dress Up Band-Aids”. I absolutely love the tins and have to tell you that the “style” of band-aid is my favorite - sticks all the way around. The designs are cute and I would much rather use these instead of the hideous flesh toned ones, or Dora The Explorer. One dollar from each tin goes to Design Ignites Change, an organization that engages high school and college students in design and architecture projects that address social issues in their own communities.

You can purchase here for $10 per tin (20 in each).

Cash Vs Charge: Jeffrey Campbell ‘Snick’ Platform

c-vs-c-jc-snick1

I saw these Jeffrey Campbell Snick Platforms months ago and really contemplated getting them. I love the look of these but wasn’t sure how I would handle them because they weren’t black. I’m not big on black uppers with wooden soles - so I had to do the damn thing with tan if I decided to. I found these ZiGiny’s at Karmaloop for $84, JC’s were about $130. Not a huge difference but I wasn’t sure if I would wear them often. I ended up going for JC’s version and I absolutely LOVE them. The platform makes them a lot more comfortable to walk in than it seems, but I wouldn’t recommend wearing them if you are going to be standing around bartending for a few hours. Now, I know that if you want a shoe you’ll splurge - but for those of you that are pinching all the pennies you can I would definitely opt for the ZiGiny.

Karmaloop has both brands available in tan (JC’s sold on KL are a dark tan as opposed to the photo above), and black. You can also get the JC Snick in olive suede.

Target Designer Sale on Gilt: Tucker, Mulberry, John Derian

target-on-gilt

I’m late on this - but I had to get on and remind everyone about the Gilt sale that starts tomorrow Friday August 20th at 9am PST. Before they hit stores, goods by Tucker, Mulberry, and John Derian will be available for Gilt members. You better act fast and refresh your page every second up till 9am because I am positive that the site will be overwhelmed with buyers. I’d hope you know what you are looking for so you can raid your first choice brand before moving on. I am going for Tucker’s tops/dresses and then onto John Derian’s tableware and picture frames. If you are looking to snag a new satchel I would definitely check out Mulberry first. If you are interested in getting a sneak peak at what will be available for Mulberry check out Fashionista.com.

Happy shopping!

Calgary Farmers Market Ad Campaign

3

One word: ADORABLE. I want to take this little watermelon buddy home! Canada’s Calgary Farmers Market is a bit far for me to pick up some fresh veggies but the ad campaign created by WAX has me enticed. I love the two different campaigns for the seasons. Fruit in swimwear/sunglasses for summer and fruit/veggies in “coats” for winter. Check behind the jump for the rest! (VIA)

Ca Cao Studded Shoes

cao_sh02_blkgun-1

Of course I had to post these - my last name is in the brand. These tennis shoes come in low and high top with multi colored studs. I’m not certain about paying top dollar for these as it would be easier to turn a $50 pair of Converse into a DIY project. Hmmm…
Anyways for those of you that don’t like to make things because it’s just easier to buy them, you can get your paws on these things over at 80’s Purple for $116-$132. Available in black high top, and white low/high top.
