I was able to cover this event this past Saturday and It was a blast. Travie McCoy, Common, Kid Cudi, Slash with special guest Fergie, and the Smashing Pumpkins were highlighting the event, with dozens of other bands. The crowd was mixed between your typical young Hollywood crowd, and some stuck in the 80’s rocker fans. Food trucks, beer amongst other goodies were everywhere. Here are a couple flicks I managed to take!
With these great teaser videos, H&M had us all wondering and guessing who the next collaboration designer would be.
H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.
“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.
“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.
Wow, I’m actually liking this competely “normal” look on Gaga. Here’s a note from the editor: “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion. She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city. In the year that’s passed, she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse. Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!”
“The New York Issue,” which features fashion and art in the most exciting city on Earth!Lady Gaga poses as the Statue of Liberty alongside designer Marc Jacobs for this cover, in which artist Dan Colen interpreted the iconic “V” using bubble gum as his medium. In total, V Magazine collaborated with 4 New York based artists for their creative take, and Colen’s is the first to be released for this exclusive preview. V67 hits newsstands TODAY, September 2nd.
A 2nd cover version stars Marina Abramovic (performance artist) and Tyson Ballou (model). Other notable NYers inside include supermodel Liya Kebede, hotelier Andre Balazs, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, Debbie Harry, Lady Bunny, Mark Ronson, Chloe Sevigny and MORE!
Drool, drool, umm. I want? 1980’s famed artist t Keith Haring has collaborated with British footwear designer Nicholas Kirkwood for February 2011. With a mix of Haring’s bold scribbles and characters and Kirkwood’s amazing footwear architecture, how could this collection not be completely awesome.
The Keith Haring by Nicholas Kirkwood range will be available worldwide in February 2011, but for those who can’t wait, there’ll be a NK treat at London fashion week in September. Kirkwood will be launching an eight-day pop-up shop online, where his collaborations with Rodarte, Erdem, and Peter Pilotto will be available for pre-sale, with the promise of an early delivery to beat the shop floors. So about two weeks ago I went through that dilemma of “Should I Cut my Bangs or not. And after days of pondering, I finally did it. I cut them! It took about two days to get used to them. I overall like them, but they’ve created a couple problems. A) I have to style them every day B) In the Summer, yes I get sweaty- not a good look for the bangs. C) They make me break out (caused by reason b). Anyway, now I’m growing them out again, until another year goes by and I go through this again *sigh* - _ -
Anyway, I saw these Jessic Simpson clip on “HairDO” bangs, and wondered, geez, I really could have just clipped some fake bangs. But something about clipping on a front hair piece to me is weird. They come in 9 different shades, and are on sale for $24. Buy them here.
Who knew Creative Recreation would come out with something like this? Creative Rec For Women? Hot? Wow! I’m super impressed. SELECT by Creative Recreation features super stylish and sexy heels, wedges and boots for women. stylish and comfortable heels, wedges and boots.
What about these hot 3 in 1 Morentini Hi boot ? The Viana open toed lace wedge, and many more.
SELECT will not only be stylish but comfortable as well. I think thats the plus about these shoes. I’m tired of buying shoes that KILL my feet after two hours! of using traditional foam padding inside the shoes, the SELECT line is designed with “poron”, a special gel-based pad. This added detail will give women’s feet extra cushion and rebound for lasting comfort.
MySpace, which recently revamped itself to look more like Facebook, is now allowing users to sync their posts to Facebook, too.
Facebook, Twitter, Myspace? I didn’t even think Myspace was a part of anyones vocab anymore. Apparently, Myspace is re-vamping the site to try to win back their users.
The changes are part of an overhaul at MySpace, which has faced falling ad revenue and stagnant user growth. MySpace users can already sync their Twitter accounts with the site, so that they can post updates on MySpace through Twitter and vice versa. So basically, you will never even need to login to Myspace, because everything will just sync. So whats the point?
MySpace, which is owned by News Corp., is also in the midst of renegotiating a search partnership as its deal with Google Inc. is nearing a close.(Via)
H&M put out these two t super smart 16 second teaser video, interviewing the next designer to collab with H&M. People are guessing the next designer collaboration is Carolina Herrera, Vivienne Tam, or Anna Sui? She has a very strong accent, which leads me to believe it’s Carolina Herrera. H&M will be announcing the designer at hm.com on September 9th, 2010.
For the second one, everyone is guessing Alber Elbaz or Thomas Maier. G
We’ve told you guys about the Half Moon Manicure before. It takes a spin on the sometimes boring French Manicure. If you’re wondering how to get this look without paying big bucks, I found a good tutorial video on how to do it yourself!
Art posts usually come on Mondays, but yesterday we were dealing with some technical difficulties. So here is a cool one, these fruit/veggie art pieces are made by Dimitri Tsykalov. Super awesome! Tell me who the hell can make ANTYHING out of an apple? (Via)
