We’ve told you guys about the Half Moon Manicure before. It takes a spin on the sometimes boring French Manicure. If you’re wondering how to get this look without paying big bucks, I found a good tutorial video on how to do it yourself!
Art posts usually come on Mondays, but yesterday we were dealing with some technical difficulties. So here is a cool one, these fruit/veggie art pieces are made by Dimitri Tsykalov. Super awesome! Tell me who the hell can make ANTYHING out of an apple? (Via)
Made mostly of recycled computer wiring, the Systems Supernova dress addresses the growing problem of e-waste in American culture and explores the concept of systems thinking as it relates to our ecosystem. Each computer wire is situated in a closed loop system that interacts with all the other systems within the dress. Movement within one system influences other parts of the whole.
So, for those of our readers that love not only fashion, but art (which really is the inspiration for most designers), I decided to start “Art Mondays”. Whether you like art or not, you have to admit there is some cool shit out there! Enjoy! Sculptist Dalton Ghetti can turn an ordinary #2 pencil into a piece of art!
One word: ADORABLE. I want to take this little watermelon buddy home! Canada’s Calgary Farmers Market is a bit far for me to pick up some fresh veggies but the ad campaign created by WAX has me enticed. I love the two different campaigns for the seasons. Fruit in swimwear/sunglasses for summer and fruit/veggies in “coats” for winter. Check behind the jump for the rest! (VIA)
Sounds painful, but I’m sure it looks awesome in person! NYLON Mag has posted a DIY of the thorn manicure by makeup artist Topolino. Interested? Check out the step by step directions to acheive this look!
In the extraordinary book Phaidon: Fashion, a young makeup artist named Topolino gets his own page. Born in Marseilles, the beauty wiz created runway looks for Alexander McQueen - and the insane thorn manicure you see above.
Not one to shrink from a challenge, we bought some roses and tried the look ourselves. Here’s how:
1. Take three roses and slice off their thorns with gardening shears. Be very careful, or you will bleed.
2. Paint each thorn a blood red, or whatever color you’ll use for your manicure (though aside from red, we think black is the only other hue that would work).
3. Paint your nails the same shade.
4. Take your nail polish and slick the bottom of the thorns with the brush, using it as “glue” for each thorn to stick on each nail.
I don’t know what it is about Terry Richardson’s simple photography, but he sure does have a way of shooting every beautiful celebrity! Check out his blog for more.
Project Ethos will be putting on it’s 14th show this Friday at the Music Box. Fashion, art, and music will be fused together to produce an amazing night. Last show proved to be quite exciting with a model nipple slip and falling in love with Bruno Mars. I’m looking forward to see what can top that. Everyone in Los Angeles needs to be there! Get tickets here.

Look closer. It’s really the Lady herself. Lady Gaga dressed up in drag and honestly, I’m not surprised by this one bit. There isn’t really anything that she does that isn’t bananas. It shall be interesting to see what she does next though.
