Cash Vs Charge: Black Milk Sheer Spartans Leggings

black-milk-vs

Pauline and I saw The XX a while back and one of the opening performances was Phantogram. Their lead singer was wearing these amazing leggings and we conspired that they were by Black Milk. I’m short so I knew that the elastane at the calves/ankles would get all bunchy so I wanted to find a pair that were cotton and less than $90. Even though the paneling is different, I found these leggings at Nasty Gal and immediately made a purchase ($38). I really like them a lot but I am warning you that the solid sections are a little sheer so you need to be sure you have your tooshie covered.

Lanvin to design exclusive collection for H&M this Fall!

lanvin-hm-logo

With these great teaser videos, H&M had us all wondering and guessing who the next collaboration designer would be.

H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

alberelbaz180708

“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

WAH! I can’t wait!

On the Cover: Lady Gaga & Marc Jacobs for V Magazine

v67_cover_a_lr

Wow, I’m actually liking this competely “normal” look on Gaga. Here’s a note from the editor: “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion. She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city. In the year that’s passed, she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse. Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!”

“The New York Issue,” which features fashion and art in the most exciting city on Earth! Lady Gaga poses as the Statue of Liberty alongside designer Marc Jacobs for this cover, in which artist Dan Colen interpreted the iconic “V” using bubble gum as his medium. In total, V Magazine collaborated with 4 New York based artists for their creative take, and Colen’s is the first to be released for this exclusive preview. V67 hits newsstands TODAY, September 2nd.

A 2nd cover version stars Marina Abramovic (performance artist) and Tyson Ballou (model). Other notable NYers inside include supermodel Liya Kebede, hotelier Andre Balazs, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, Debbie Harry, Lady Bunny, Mark Ronson, Chloe Sevigny and MORE!

Retailers To Install Virtual Mirrors To Sell Make Up

3903157310_84dcc2c5f8

Shopping for fast make-up relief and frazzled at what to buy? Cosmetic aisles in supermarkets and drugstores are adding electronic makeover mirrors with technology from EZFace Inc. to help both the consumer and company. Wal-Mart Stores have already installed these virutal mirrors in a two locations and is set to expand to 40 other stores. Stores in France and Britain have also done the same.

The idea behind this is to deter customers from returns of product and of course from opening packaging leaving the company with destroyed inventory. This is also to help from being hesitant to buying new make up or even hair color, because unlike Sephora or department retailers there are no make up samples to test out.

The virutal mirror kiosks are designed for easy use: stand in front of a mirror for the photo and scan the cosmetic bar code. The eyeshadow, blush, lip gloss, mascara, or foundation will then appear on the appropriate part of the face. A list appears on the screen to remind you of what you are testing and you can even print the image, email it, or post it to Facebook.

Do you think this would be more effective in stores? If you don’t shop at Wal-Mart would it entice you to go and try the virtual mirrors out in order to make purchases? The only make up I buy at a retail store is mascara but if the Target around the corner from my apartment had something like this I think it would be fun. What are your thoughts?

Skulls, skeletons, gobblings, fang bangers, monsters!! What is this early October craze doing smack in the beginning of September? While trying to find words that describe what it is I’m perceiving all that comes to me is this reminder of some sort of primitive collection , for a lack of better words,  meets 2025 and all its wonders. Perhaps we’re creeping into a fantasy worthwhile.

What about these hot 3 in 1 Morentini Hi boot ? The Viana open toed lace wedge, and many more.

moretinahi

SELECT will not only be stylish but comfortable as well. I think thats the plus about these shoes. I’m tired of buying shoes that KILL my feet after two hours! of using traditional foam padding inside the shoes, the SELECT line is designed with “poron”, a special gel-based pad. This added detail will give women’s feet extra cushion and rebound for lasting comfort.

Thanks!

Hellz Bellz Presents “The Rest is her story” Fall 2010

_MG_1065

This Fall 2010 marks the growth of Hellz, with a more experimental venture entitled ‘The Rest Is Her Story,’ a collection that conveys a classic story of vengeance while simultaneously exuding sensuality and ferocity. Drawing inspiration from revenge and exploitation films such as ‘Lady Snowblood’ and ‘Thriller,’ the collection makes use of a dark color palette to embody the mood & feel of both films. Black, white, and  texture are prevalent throughout the collection and accentuate the unorthodox but innovative silhouettes with leather, trims and details. Pieces like the ‘Alice,’ a fitted blazer with exaggerated shoulders and back ruffle detail inspired by anti-heroines who display great strength and confidence while maintaining beauty and grace. Another interesting piece from the collection is the ‘Wonderland, ‘ a fine cotton jersey printed tunic with metal hooks and eye trims, that not only demonstrates the boldness and convention of film vixens, but the brand as a whole as well. A subtle color story, intelligent and experimental silhouettes and contrasting metal details culminate in an exhibition of daring feminine sexuality and confidence, truly proving that ‘The Rest Is Her Story.’ (Via)

Available through Ksubi, David Jones and General Pants Co. nationally. Prices range from $289-$329. More behind the jump!
