Break it down: The female orgasm

femaleorgasm1

I could probably go on about this subject for hours, but who wants to hear my rants and personal story? Probably none of you. All I can say is that some of this was a big surprise, some of it not.

I was surprised at some of the numbers  like only 10-15% of women have never experience an orgasm- I would’ve guessed 25%. 90% of women say their orgasm is psychological more then physical - not surprised at that!  67% of women have faked orgasm’s! Are well all guilty of this?

Anyway, read more, add your input, thoughts… and even personal stories!PS is there even such thing as a g-spot?

Home Remedies for Hair Loss

hairlosstip12

I have a lot of hair, but my hair has been falling off  a lot lately. I’m not a fan of hair products, so I decided to do some research and take care of it on my own. I found the cause of hair loss and a few simple steps you can try from your own home! ;)

These are the most common causes for hair loss: Stress, hormonal changes, hair products, poor diet, medicine,  & genes.

Facts:

-It’s normal to lose around 50 to 100 hairs per day.

-No product will make your hair grow or make it thicker.

-Hair loss begins around the ages of 12 to 40.

-Normal haircare doesn’t affect hair loss.

DO’s:

Rub Olive, Almond & Coconut oils into scalp. Repeat 3 times a week.

Eating To Help You Lose Weight

3_health_top_10000x0420x250

I’ve been on a major workout kick for the past few months. It’s definitely paid off because I have seen a huge difference in the way my clothes fit. Total success. Now that I know I’m on my way to my summer bod, I’ve been more conscious about what I eat.

I was told that eating protein in the morning is a lot better because it gives a sustained feeling of fullness throughout the day, as opposed to eating it for lunch or dinner. TRUTH! I work protein into my breakfast and I’ve been feeling a lot more full throughout the day so come lunch or dinner I’m not craving a 10 course meal. In a study published in the International Journal of Obesity - it was found that eating two eggs for breakfast, as a part of a reduced calorie diet, helped overweight adults lose more weight AND feel more energetic than those who ate a bagel for breakfast. Perfect for the days you workout because you’ve got the spunk to get yourself in exercising!

My breakfast ideas: Oatmeal, two eggs (omelette with lean Canadian bacon and low-fat cheese OR throw it all into a whole wheat tortilla), yogurt. You can pair up and get healthy carbs in like those found in fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Sometimes when I’m in a hurry I’ll drink a protein shake like Muscle Milk, but if you’re not into that (the taste sometimes gets to me) you can go for soy milk.

As far as the rest of the day goes, I try to get in my greens and some carbs (can’t live without) as well as some other key foods. Check behind the cut for suggestions to help you still eat but lose weight!

Karl Lagerfeld-Tisk, Tisk…

kl

Chanel’s main man has made some enemies.

Constantly, there is a debate on the size (and health) of high fashion models. Mr. Lagerfeld put his two cents in saying :

“no one wants to see curvy women on the ramp”

Ummm….I do.

I’d love love love to see curvy woman on the runway. Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, America Ferra, these woman are beautiful, curvy, and the kind of role models women need today.

Companies that sell diet pills, products, services, and everything they can throw at you that will “BURN BELLY FAT IN 10 MINS” are BILLION DOLLAR businesses. What stems this obsession with weight? Fashion.

I believe the tail of a great designer is being able to dress any woman of any shape or size and make that woman look AND feel beautiful.

I’m taking a fashion course now about the history of fashion. We’ve learned that thin women were NOT seen attractive in the past. They were seen more as women who cannot bear children. And the most attractive women were curvy, healthy women. Think about it.

Tyra Banks is in my corner. Are you??aimee_signature3

Lipstick on the mirror: Five Sure Ways NOT To Get Over Someone

I found these on The Frisky a while ago, and had to resort to coming back to it, because it’s very relevant to my life, or was almost 10 months ago. I recently broke up with a boyfriend of over four years, and had to experience for the first time learning how to “move on” and “getting over” him. I’m sure many of us have gone through this. I haven’t written much on TLD about relationship advice, but I think almost everyone has gone through this, or WILL go through it one day.. enjoy these five tips, or more like what NOT to do !

Breaking_Up

1. Ring, Ring: It’s natural that in times of pain, you reach out to the person you feel closest to. Unfortunately, the person closest to you just took your heart and used it to clean his toilet. Calling him in tears, protesting that he can’t break up with you because you loooove him is only going to cost you dignity points. Following that up with any variation on “you’ll never meet anyone as awesome as me ever again!” will only cause him to pray you’re right.

2. “Researching” (i.e., Cyberstalking): Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, et al., make this not only tempting, but ridiculously easy. But do your best to refrain from checking his relationship and/or mood status every ten seconds. (“OMG—what do you think he means by pensive>?”) Block his IM and delete his RSS. And don’t even think about luring him in with a fake online dating profile.

3. Retail Therapy: The list of approved post-breakup purchases is short: anything from your favorite boutique that sells stuff you consistently look amazing in. Do not march into The Gap and spend just for the sake of spending. A month from now you’ll still be happy with your amazing new set of lingerie, but you’re only going to feel worse if all you have to show for your grief grab is an ugly, pebbled leather satchel, an ill-fitting mustard suit, and a giant new credit card balance.

The Immune Boosting Diet

immune-boost

Somewhere between summer ending and fall/winter beginning, and there on, I get deathly ill. For days and sometimes weeks at a time I am bed ridden, crawling on my hands and knees to get from the bed to the bathroom. It’s my own fault - I don’t keep myself in immune fighting mode. We all do things that make our immune systems weak. We drink alcohol, wear ourselves out with stress, and have poor diets.

What we eat plays a huge role in fighting off germs. The simple solution? Eat well. I’ve listed eight power foods to help you beat the bug.

1. Oranges!
Also known as the staple to any breakfast, one orange provides more than 100 percent of the daily value for vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps to strengthen the immune system. Vitamin C helps boost immunity by stimulating growth of antibodies that fight off infections. It is a part of the chemical reactions that allow our bodies to synthesize proteins needed for antibodies. It also acts as an antihistamine by lowering blood levels of the histamines released by the immune system that make stuffiness and congestion worse. SO the more vitamin C the better!

2. Blueberries
The powerhouse of antioxidants - blueberries get the most votes as the immunity food. These little guys are a good source of vitamins C and E and when these two work together they produce the greatest antioxidant effects. C works as the water soluble antioxidant and E works as the fat soluble.

Five Foods For Clear Skin

healthy_skin_food

As much as I would like to think that after being out of high school for so long that pimples don’t exist, they do. Every now and then I’ll get some bugger who puts a damper on my day. I know that we could go back and forth on whether or not the food we eat affects our skin in some way, and if you don’t think so I want to know what you’re eating!

Here are five healthy foods to help keep your skin free from drama!

1. Whole grains. When it comes to fighting acne-causing inflammation, fiber-packed whole grains work like a charm. They carry a lot of antioxidants and stabilize blood sugar and prevent insulin spikes. Make sure you check nutrition info to be sure it is high in fiber and low in sugar. Sometimes sneaky lingo on a loaf of bread can trick you into thinking you’ve got the right stuff.

2. Fish Yes, it is the source of omega-3 fatty acids but fish are loaded with anti-inflammatory eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The best fish for blemish free skin? Mackerel, salmon (!!!), and anchovies.

Top 5 Tips for Growing Your Hair Longer

healthy-hair

So after a TERRIBLE mistake of cutting my bangs the other day, I basically look like  the guy from Dumb and Dumber. So, as a solution to my problem I’ve been doing about 3 days of research on how to grow them back. I know many of us have done this, whether it be our hairdresser cutting too much off when all you wanted was a 1 inch cut, or getting a terrible hair style. So while on the hunt, I found some great ways of growing your hair back. Growing your hair longer really is an internal thing, not something a shampoo or hair product can fix.

1) The obvious one, cut your hair every 4-6 weeks for it to grow, dead hair does not grow!

2) Brushing your hair daily. I learned this recently, it’s a bad idea to brush/comb your hair when it’s wet, it causes split ends. Circulation of the scalp enhances your hair to grow more.

3) Vitamins: Most woman’s vitamins have everything you need for healthy hair such as vitamin B complex, vitamin A E & C. The one that is really good for your hair is Biotin. Good food sources of biotin include  brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. You can go to a GNC or any drug store and get biotin, or get a hair-nourishing vitamin like this one.Read more about vitamins here.

4) Eat healthy, these are foods that promote hair growth: - Yogurt and soy, Dark green vegetable, Whole grain products, Essential fatty acid, Nut and seed, Carrots, Fruits, Eggs, Spinach, Broccoli, Fish, Beans.

vetables-fish-fruit

5) Hair Products: Although hair products cannot usually help the growth of your hair, try not to use drug store shampoo’s/conditioners such as Pantene or Herbal Essence, all they do is add build up and add alcohol to your hair, which slows down the process of the growth. Also, I heard Olive Oil and Coconut oil is good for your hair, it will make your hair a little oily for a couple days, but once you wash it out it will add shine and make your hair healthier. Also, if you have a problem hair loss ( you should be losing approx. 100 strands of hair a day), you could use Nioxin, which is good for hair loss.

If you have any other tips, or you’ve used any of these, let me know!!
