It’s a love hate relationship for me when it comes to white girls dipping their feet into rap music mainly because of preference and sensitive taste to good versus bad. And before you get all crayola crazy on me no it’s not because of their whiteness. It’s because of their corniness and inability for me to buy the hype. Yeah most rappers lie and put on a tough front but in all honesty, there is no easy way for me to believe a hot mess rebelling blonde to be a bad bitch or a gangster. If you haven’t noticed already I’m referring to the disaster called Ke$ha. I’m sorry sweetie but suburbia and street life just isn’t a convincing mix–at least not when you do it. LOL, and she’s not even a rapper, just a sloppy ass mess! But when I google searched “white girl rappers” keesha picture popped up! So after this hot mess I’ve decided to recognize the few white girls (and one recent white guy) out here who are way more freaky, fun and far better, if not with the lyrics then, at least with the steez. I heard about Ebony Bones last year and was initially blown away by her outlandish fashion sense. Just like Jem, she is truly outrageous! With a sound you can compare to M.I.A. but self-described as “jungle punk” and a look you might say is Rainbow Brite meets Peggy Noland, how can you not get into this fierce little lady from London? She started out acting on soap operas but now brings the drama to the stage with her fluorescent clothing, circus makeup and energetic performances. Aside from representing designers like Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Miss Jones makes her own crazy clothing. I love a true weirdo who looks like she’s having fun and this girl definitely plays that part!
She’s currently on tour and has two shows in LA next week at La Cita on Feb 1st and The Echo on Feb 5, so catch her and her neon army if you can! See more of her wild style after the cut.
So Mariah’s newest video for “Up out of my face” featuring Nicki Minaj debuted today… And everyone is saying the same thing “it looks like a Target commercial”. Well, I am PRETTY sure that’s the whole theme they were going for guys.. and on another note, Nicki Minaj? What’s the deal with her? Is she trying to take Lil Kim’s place since Lil Kim is on her way to being Cat woman? No one can replace Lil Kim! I know that question has been going on for a while, but it never really mattered to me until I guess..right now. Thoughts?
Ok I had to write about this one, I might get virtual eggs thrown at me but I just had to. So we all heard that one “wake-up i feel like diddy blah blah” Ke$ha song, and to be honest at first I thought it was Uffie on the song, but the style was too “poppy” so I was confused like who is this chick? So I happen to follow Jeremy Scott on Twitter and I recently noticed he had been talking about Ke$ha vs. Uffie alot, really? I am not the only one that thinks this? Apparently I’m not crazy Ke$ha’s sound is very similar to Uffie’s, except I hate Ke$has music and I have loved Uffies for years. So lets compare shall we…Uffie’s “Pop the Glock” vs Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” and we can all agree the visuals are definately different what we are comparing is the sound.
Maybe I am late and everyone else knew about Little Dragon but I just fell in love with them recently.
