NYFW: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Who else has fallen in love with this collection? The colors are warm, and make me want to jump into them! Bravo!

“It could seem a little listless, except that everything about Marc Jacobs is a package, so the soundtrack was a relentlessly upbeat modern surf sound (the Drums were featured). That shoved the energy levels skyward and underscored Marc by Marc’s fundamental charm and prettiness, both assets clearly highlighted by the fresh-faced and bed-headed cast of models. The pie-crust frilling on blouses and pants might have been a little obvious, but a blanket-striped sweater dress over leggings was girlishly cute.” (Style)

NYFW: Marchesa

4For one of my fashion classes, I had to create a secondary line for a well-known designer. Everyone did the obvious, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, not me. I made Mischief by Marchesa, a lingerie line based after the stunning cocktail dresses and red carpet ready gown. Needless to say, every season since that project, Marchesa had been an absolute favorite of mine. Its hard to explain why its so great, until you see the photos for yourself. Take the photo above. How can you not love? We’re bound to see some of these beauties on the Oscar red carpet. I’d put money on it.

Fug or Fab: Mena Suvari at A+O Fashion Show

mena-suvari-021410s1feat

Yikes! Actress Mena Suvari rocked this bird nest to the Alice + Olivia fashion show for New York fashion week. Don’t get me wrong, Mena is very beautiful gal, but this do is just um… not working out. Or you can see it like this: It’s fashion forward, fun and different. What’s your take?

Kind of looks like this broad? Awww…too harsh, too harsh.

NYFW: Alice + Olivia

00030m1I’ve always had a love for Alice+ Olivia, basically because of the name. Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland and one of my best friends Olivia. I get all warm ‘n fuzzy hearing the name. Now, after seeing their newest collection I have more of a reason to love. I’m going to Vegas for graduation, and have been looking for funky fresh party dresses and I think I’ve found my inspiration. I’d love to see some of these shoes at Payless, please. Designer of Alice+ Olivia puts it better.

“These clothes are fun,” Stacy Bendet said. “They’re like candy.”

I like candy.  And the whole “Alice in Wonderland” feel to it. Let’s all start wearing miniature top hats. Who’s down?

See more after the cut.

This looks like the ultimate event. Not only did Naomi Campbell hold this Fashion For Relief Charity show for NYFW, but she also ended it with an Alexander McQueen tribute. Model Agyness Deyn ate shiz, while Kelly Osborne looked absolutely fab! Celebrities who were there included Chris Brown, Alan Cumming, Olivia Palermo and more. Wow!

Fug or Fab: Lady Gaga

lady-gaga-amfar

Lady Gaga seems to be featured on every page on TLD, yes- we know. She is like a car crash, you dont want to look (or write) but you just can’t help it!! She rocked this crazy outfit to amfAR’s New York City Gala to Kick Off Fall 2010 Fashion Week. Still trying to figure out what the hell was glued on her face, but - um, it’s interesting. On another note, Kelly Cutrone from PR firms Peoples Revolution said this about the singer:

“”I don’t really care for her. I just don’t really see anything very original about what she’s doing. I don’t like her style. I find it to be very violent. She looks like Dolly Parton after a murder.”

Do you agree? Disagree? Do you think Gaga craves the attention, or is she really “out of this world” in the fashion world (in a good way)?
