All natural for Harpers Bazaar

kim-kardashian-harpers-bazzar

Kim Kim Kardashian, Joy Bryant, and photographer Amanda de Cadenet (photographer) stripped down for the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar….minus any re-touching or photoshop! It seems that everyone is following this trend. Finally. Beautiful.

I feel proud if young girls look up to me and say, ‘I’m curvy, and I’m proud of it now,’”
“I was wearing a C cup by the time I was 11. I would go to bed and pray, ‘Please, Lord, don’t let my boobs grow any bigger,’” “I hated what was happening.” “I’m Armenian. It’s normal,” “My butt is probably not as big as you might think, because I have small legs and a small waist, which makes it appear bigger.” Kardshian says.

“The message is embrace your curves and who you are…” —Kim Kardashian

Photoshop Police: Kourtney Kardashian on OK! Magazine

kourtney-kardashian-okmagazine-TLD

I really admire Kourtney for coming out and being honest about her bad photoshopping job in OK! Magazine. Kourtney appeared on the front cover of the magazine, slim and trimmed after giving birth to her son recently. What a false message to send out! I’m sure women who have children know it is NOT easy to shed those pounds after giving birth. She said:

“One of those weeklies got it wrong again…they didn’t have an exclusive with me. And I gained 40 pounds while pregs, not 26…But thanks!,” she said on twitter. “They doctored and Photoshopped my body to make it look like I have already lost all the weight, which I have not”.

Crazy how they COMPLETELY manipulated this photo. The dress, the position of her face, her weight + more.

Photoshop Police: Emma Watson’s Burberry Campaign

Emma_watson-photoshop

As the face for Burberry, it’s not surprise to see her in the newest ad campaign for the Spring 2010 collection. Here, she poses with her brother, Alex Watson (who by the way I think looks like a creep).  George Craig, Matt Gilmour, and Max Hurd accompany Emma in this campaign, shot by photographer Mario Testino. Can we just move on and talk about what a terrible job Burberry did in the photoshop department? Lawdz, where’s your leg honey? They get better and better everytime.

Photoshop Police: Bethenny Frankel for PETA

Bethenny Frankel _peta

It’s not new news that PETA photoshop’s all their ad’s. I mean, they photoshop women with angels floating over cute puppes for crying out loud! So actress/star of Real Houswives of New York posed for my beloved PETA peeps. Apparently, (I dont really follow Real Housewives so I have no clue), Bethenny had haters, (well yeah). So to prove them all that she has a great body, she bared the original  exclusively with UsMagazine.com. Did photoshopping completely make her look like a different woman? Or were they legit touchups?

Demi Moore for W-Magazine

demi-moore-w

This woman always seems to amaze me. What is she doing/taking that has her looking so amazing?  Photoshop much? Natural? Surg? Who knows. Who cares. Here is some of the interview she covered for W-Magazine:

On being labeled a “cougar” for marrying 31-year-old Ashton Kutcher: “I’m certainly not the first person to be in a relationship with a younger man, but somehow I was plucked out as a bit of a poster girl. I don’t know why that is. But I just kind of step back sometimes and say, ‘There is some reason, and what is it that I have to share in a positive way?.I’d prefer to be called a Puma.”

On using Twitter to transform her public image: “People are much more interested in what I have to say directly, and that really changed the whole dynamic I have with fans.I can’t impress enough the difference in how people are perceiving me. They’re getting to see who I am.”

Demi_Moore

On leaving Hollywood: “One of the things that hit me very strongly was the realization that what we do is not who we are. I had worked my whole life. Until I became a mother, that’s the only way I measured my value.”

On Ashton Kutcher: “The most overwhelming part of meeting someone that you already felt you had such a deep and old connection with is that your feelings are greater than the time you’ve had to actually be with one another,” she says. “Now we’ve had the physical time together. The love he has for me makes me a better person by giving me the courage to take risks. I can fail and have someone who loves me just the same. I never knew it was quite possible. As a married woman, I am and will always be Mrs. Kutcher. But I have my career as Demi Moore.”

Lizzie Miller Airbrush Free & Au Naturale in Glamour

Model Lizzie Miller is definitely on my good side. I’ve been complaining about all the photoshop freaks going on, and I’m happy to hear gorgeous  Lizzie Miller is doing this. She appears in Glamour magazine, completely photoshop and airbrush free.Glamour readers with her non-airbrushed photos which appeared in the latest edition of the magazine.

Given that Lizzie Miller’s body probably resembles that of the majority of Glamour Magazine’s readers, it comes as no surprise that women found it refreshing to see a normal belly instead of another stick-thin, airbrushed body.We should all feel comfortable in our own skin, and stop wanting to be in someone else’s!

So what’s the story behind the photo? “The woman on p. 194″ is actually 20-year-old model Lizzi Miller, and this is her second appearance in Glamour, shot by fashion photographer Walter Chin. A size 12-14 and avid softball player/belly dancer (”I like exercising when it’s fun”), Lizzi moved to New York City from San Jose three years ago to become a model (a “plus-size” one by modeling industry standards, though hello, at size 12 she’s actually “normal size”…but I digress).

Photoshop Police: Keira Knightley as the face of the Coco Chanel campaign

Keira-Knightley_Coco_Chanel_photoshop

Sorry guys, I know I’m probably buggin’ out with this whole photoshop ordeal, but I can’t help it! Everyone is as fake as fake can get! Keira Knightley is originally very beautiful, not sure why they would really want to photoshop her to an extreme like this. Although she is slightly on the skinny side, it looks like they actually had to photoshop some FAT on her body! Who woulda thought!?

Stripped to the waist her chest is covered only by a pair of braces, with her bust looking noticeably fuller that usual. The Pirates of the Caribbean star also appears to have succumbed to more than a little computer wizardry to smooth out her complexion in the shots which are being used to advertise Chanel’s new fragrance.

Airbrushing expert Chris Bickmore said Miss Knightley’s skin had been smoothed and her chest enlarged. “Her face has definitely been retouched, there are no lines or wrinkles at all” he said.

‘The whites in her eyes have been made a cleaner white and there are no lines on her neck, body or even the back of her hand where there would definitely be some detail. Her breast has had some shading added to it to give it the effect of being rounder and more pert and it has also been increased in size slightly.’

Kelly Clarkson on Self Magazine Stirs up Controversy

Kelly-clarkson-self-magazine

I always tell my readers how anti-photoshop I am. I think it’s stupid and deceiving! It’s a huge lie to women, and makes women feel insecure. When I saw Kelly on the cover of Self, I wanted to call Self magazine myself. Why? Because it’s obvious Kelly doesn’t look like that. I have nothing wrong with Kelly’s figure, in fact I support that she doesn’t care what people think. She’s happy with her weight and her appearance, and there is nothing wrong with that. Now, personally if I had the money Kelly does, I probably would be in great shape, because truth is it doesn’t take money to look good and be healthy sometimes. So, basically covers of magazines aren’t supposed to look realistic. Even though that’s the first thing that makes you want to pick up the magazine in the first place at the grocery store.

Kelly-clarksonIsn’t self magazine supposed to be one that makes you feel better about yourself? I mean, isn’t Cosmo supposed to be that one that makes you feel insecure? Well, one person who doesn’t have a problem with her weight is Kelly Clarkson herself. She tells the magazine: “When people talk about my weight, I’m like, ‘You seem to have a problem with it; I don’t…I’m fine! I’ve never felt uncomfortable on the red carpet or anything.” Good for you girl, next time make sure you’re not put on a magazine looking like a whole ‘nother person!

In response to claims that Clarkson’s body was obviously altered, Self’s editor-in-chief had this to say about cover shoots:

This is art, creativity and collaboration. It’s not, as in a news photograph, journalism. It is, however, meant to inspire women to want to be their best. That is the point…

Did we alter her appearance? Only to make her look her personal best. Did we publish an act of fiction? No. Not unless you think all photos are that.

No More Photoshop!

twiggy

This Oil of Olay print ad image featuring Twiggy is at the center of a heated debate over a proposed Photoshop ban in Britain. Liberal Democrats there say that the practice of image retouching is a harmful one, and they propose footnotes be added to all doctored photos that disclose that they’ve been edited.

Moreover, Liberal Democrats also advocate a Photoshop ban in Britain for all advertising targeted at youth under the age of 16. The gallery above starts off with Twiggy’s Oil of Olay ad—which only warranted attention because shortly after it was published, wrinkle-filled photos of the iconic model out shopping surfaced—and finishes up with classic blunders from Photoshop Disasters.

I personally think photoshop is taken out of hand a lot of the times. It sometimes distorts what a real woman looks like. We all know no human being is perfect, and everyone has flaws. If  they showed their real selves, we could feel better about ourselves. Like Kim Kardashian having cellulite, or women having wrinkles. I hope we can cut photoshop more and more.

Gisele Bündchen for London Fog

Gisele Bündchen_2

Is it me? Or is Gisele missing something in this shoot? Isn’t London Fog supposed to be one of the best coat manufacturers and she’s strippin’ down to almost nothing? Hmph.  Pregnant Gisele Bundchen shows off her stunning body in a sexy new fashion campaign. The Brazilian-born supermodel poses in just a London Fog coat in her first campaign since People.com reported she was expecting back in June. But the firm admits that the new advertising campaign saw Gisele’s body ‘retouched’ in pictures to ‘respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life.’ “Nobody is sexier or more beautiful than Gisele Bundchen in nothing but a London Fog trench coat, even with her visible baby bump,” said Dari Marder, Chief Marketing Officer of London Fog.

Gisele Bündchen_3

“This London Fog campaign features a classic portrait of Gisele in an iconic London Fog trench; it is a very fitting image for this timeless brand.”  Marder added, “Although Gisele was photographed while pregnant, most of the shots have been retouched to respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life.”
