in this cruel thing we call life! … kidding, kidding.
Awww she looks so happy!
In honor of summer going bye bye & school time saying HELLO, WELCOME BACK, & LET’S BEGIN THE TORTURE (kidding about the last one), I’ve found an amazing article on how to Survive & Thrive during your freshman year in college. Exciting much?
When I went into my first year of college, it was beyond uneventful. Why? Well.. I was at a school I didnt want to go to, I wasn’t going far away, & I didn’t live on campus. Didn’t really feel as if I had the wonderful pro’s and horrible cons of being away on my own so my wings could spread & I could commence with soaring into my own life. Needless to say, it sucked, I failed, I dropped out. Good thing is.. 6 months later I enrolled in an Art School that I LOVE!
Now here I am, 20 years old, and although very independent I’m FINALLY going away for school. Actually, I’m moving across the country to California. It’ll be my first time moving so far away from my family & friends. So with all that being said, it’s almost like I’m going through the freshman phase all over again, which is cool with me as long as I keep my junior credits.
I started doing research on what you need for school and to live on your own, tips and tricks to get used to new environments, how to be a more social person (as If I’m not already social right?) and all that good stuff.
Anyway, I’ll ramble all day so without any further adue or however that saying goes… Here are my favorite tips.
1. Go to all orientations. - College orientations are surprisingly REALLY fun if you engage in mingling with your fellow classmates. This gives you a fun and relaxed way to meet professors (who you’ll want to get know) & other students. 9/10 you’ll find SO many amazing people who are the exact same as you AND completely different yet somehow you click.
2. Go to class. - like the article says. This is obvious. The biggest mistake I made in my freshman year was taking advantage of my freedom. Just because you CAN miss classes, or leave early all the time, doesn’t mean you should people.
More of my favorite tips after the cut & also a link to the actual article. (its a MUST read for actually.. all college students)
