The Lovewright Co: The Local and The Loyal Spring 2010

lwrsp10_1

Independence is something The Lovewright Co. holds very dearly. Within truly independent individuals you will generally find the same traits. Certain strengths that they all carry with them. They are generally confident in themselves and in their abilities, comfortable in their own skin. In this way, the LWR. man is a local everywhere he goes. The “loyal” portion of this motto speaks to the more spiritual side of the man. He’s loyal to his family, friends, to himself and his beliefs. He is dedicated to his ideals and his work. His loyalty is what keeps him grounded and on the straight and narrow when the road gets rough. The Lovewright Co. was built on this belief. A belief that has carried it through both the good times and the bad. The Co. is proud to represent these Local and Loyal.”

Gentlemen you better get ready for this season because it will be The Co’s FIRST venture into denim, 13oz straight leg, and cut/sew apparel. Don’t forget that all The Co’s tees are completely custom made in the USA. You can get your hands on the tees and hats at both Tradition locations. Call Westlake at 805-497-4717 or Ventura at 805-643-8905 before you miss out.

Tradition: Burning Fight Coverage

burningfightflyer_r51

This Saturday October 10th at Tradition in Westlake! This book release and art show will feature Q&A with the author Brian Peterson along with Mike Hartsfield (Outspoken), Dave McClure (Downcast), Ryan Downey (Burn It Down), Vique Martin (Simba Fanzine), and more. The art show will feature a collection of photos, flyers, and t-shirts.

If you’re into Hardcore music I think this is something you should NOT miss. Drew from Tradition has scoured through boxes and boxes of stuff to put up on display. Will be VERY interested. I remember in high school I used to keep show flyers! I should search for mine.

Off The Wall - A Tribute to Michael Jackson

img_0180

Saturday night I cruised over to Tradition out in Westlake for the Tribute Show for MJ. As soon as I arrived heads started popping on in and it got pretty crowded. A lot of great work by Acme, Axis, Chase Tafoya, Christina Felice, Dethkills, DJ Solo, Eyeone, Jason Youth, Justin Reed, Marsha, Sharktoof, Quincy Sutton, and Timothy “Teruo” Watters. DJ Myron was spinning and gave us a great two hour Michael Jackson Tribute set. I was singing MJ in my sleep that night!

Good to see co-curator Eyeone as always and got the chance to talk to Quincy Sutton - a great man! My boyfriend and I got to kick it with him for a while. His pieces are a couple of my favorite. Check em out behind the jump!

Oh, of course Lil Meezy spit some for us :)

Soul Assassins Listening Party

_cmf6285

I came out to Tradition yesterday for the Soul Assassins listening party for their CD Intermission. Drinks were provided by Transphusion (which has very little sugar) and BOMB tacos. Sort of drooling just thinking about them.. ANYWAYS, performances by DJ Muggs and Fashawn. We all also got the liberty of seeing MEEZY perform a little for us! Who’s got the video?!

If you weren’t able to make it to Tradition this weekend, Trevor Traynor’s photography is going to be up until July 9th.

More pics after the jump!

Lupe Fiasco x Converse

The first sight of these was when Lupe wore them to the release party for Dr. Romanelli’s x Converse Product (RED), the talk was they weren’t going to be released…
WELL! My boyfriend and I are picking up matching pairs (HA) at Tradition. Even though they are a little shiny for my usual, I can’t stop thinking about them. I think they look excellent.

NEW WORKS at Tradition

Were you there?!?!?!
I got to Tradition around 7:20ish and by 10 the store was pretty full. Free drinks, music (DJ Katastrophe), and amaaazing artwork by Patrick Martinez and Eyeone.

I got a chance to talk to Patrick and Eyeone.. as well hang out with some friends (new and old) and have A LOT of good laughs. Patrick’s Go Getters (Break Yourself) foam hands were a big hit in YELLOW but I think I did see a girl cop a pink one. A limited zine was also out so I hope if you made it out you were able to pick one up.

Patrick said that one of the inspirations behind this painting came from seeing a kid just drinking a liter of soda. It is so sad to me these days how kids can just down soda, junk food, and fast food. I remember when I was younger it was a TREAT to be able to have a Mc D kids meal! Girls toy please.
